Ricardo Johnson Wins the StatSheet MAC Sixth Man of the Week - January 21st, 2013

StatSheet's MAC Player of the Week for January 21st goes to Kent State's Chris Evans. Western Michigan's Connar Tava has been recognized as StatSheet MAC Freshman of the Week. Also, Ricardo Johnson is the StatSheet MAC 6th Man of the Week. Evans registered 50% shooting, 10.5 rebounds per game, and 22 points per game. The Kent State senior played well for the Golden Flashes in a win against Buffalo and a loss to Akron.

Evans led all rebounding for the Golden Flashes with 14 while adding 4 steals in an 80-68 win against Buffalo. He then led all scoring and rebounding with a 19 point and 7 rebound performance in a 71-67 loss to Akron.

This is the first time this season that Chris Evans has been selected StatSheet MAC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is junior Javon McCrea from Buffalo. Honorable mention goes to junior Shayne Whittington from Western Michigan. Walter Offutt finished fourth and was the highest ranking player from Ohio.

StatSheet MAC Freshman of the Week: Western Michigan's Connar Tava

Connar Tava was on the floor an average of 18 minutes starting both games for Western Michigan. In a 79-56 waxing of Toledo, Tava contributed 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Then in a massive 71-34 win against Northern Illinois, he dialed up 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

This marks the first time this season that Connar Tava has won the StatSheet MAC Freshman of the Week. Darius Paul from Western Michigan grabs runner-up. Jalen Ross from Eastern Michigan receives honorable mention.

StatSheet MAC 6th Man of the Week: Ohio's Ricardo Johnson

Ricardo Johnson, a junior and a 6-5 guard, averaged 20 minutes of action over two games for the Bobcats. In an 81-63 win against Northern Illinois, Johnson got 9 points and 3 steals. During a 76-67 win against Toledo, he racked up 13 points and 6 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet MAC 6th Man of the Week honor for Ricardo Johnson. Derek Thompson, a junior guard from Eastern Michigan, is runner up. Reese Holliday, a junior guard from Toledo, receives honorable mention. Ohio has yet to win the StatSheet MAC Player of the Week award this season.
